Windows Vista Shortcut for XP by K-Ikki Windows Vista Shortcut for XP by K-Ikki
32px shortcut on 48px icons for Windows XP
Works on 256px, 48px, 32px and 16px icons on 4-bit, 8-bit, or 32-bit color quality

How to install:

Required Programs:
- Resource Hacker: [link].
- Replacer: [link].

To apply the icon on the system, open Start menu, click Run..., write %SYSTEMROOT%System32 and hit Enter.

Search for Shell32.dll, copy and paste it on Desktop. Don't close the window yet.

Download Resource Hacker program at [link] and run it.

Click File, select Open... and open the Shell32.dll file on Desktop.

Expand Icon Group file tree and then expand number 30.

Right click 1046 and select Replace Resource...

On the recently opened window, click Open file with new icon..., choose Shortcut.ico icon and click Replace.

Click File again, select Save and close the window.

Download Replacer on [link], extract to some folder and run Replacer.cmd.

The program will ask for the ORIGINAL file that you want to change. Drag Shell32.dll from System32 folder into Replacer window
and hit Enter.

It will ask for the NEW file that will be on Shell32.dll's original place, the Shell32.dll from Desktop, drag it inside the window and hit Enter.

If you made everything correctly and want to continue, type Y and hit Enter.

Replacer will do a backup and replace the file. Close any windows.

To see the changes, reboot system. If nothing happens, you will have to reset the icon cache.

Hey, you know these icons? Are they transparent? Because I saw someone's XP desk with transparent shortcut icons... wondering if you know anything about it :)

Yes, I know these icons. Yes, they're transparent. Can you show me this desktop? :)

Oh good, it's just that mine aren't and it didn't look like it on the preview.

Well, Longhorn's Shortcut icon is very transparent than Vista's one, that's more opaque than transparent. :)

Also, check if your system is using 32-bit (supports transparency) colors or 16-bit (doesn't support transparency). ;)

Yeah, my system is 32-it so transparency should be supported... :)
Thanks, I'll re-download it :)
